Hello Friends, today, in this tutorial, we are going to learn, how to install, windows 8, windows 8.1, or windows 10, directly, from the, internal hard drive, of your computer, the procedure is very simple, & you do not even need, any third-party software. Friends, this method, is especially, very useful, when, the cd drive, or, usb drive, of your computer, is not working, or, you do not have, any cd drive, or pen drive, available with you, and, you want to format, your computer. Friends, today in this tutorial, we are going to show you, this very simple method, that will allow you, to boot, and install Windows, directly from the hard drive.
Step 1:
Part 1: Preparing the Hard Drive with Windows 8 setup files.
- Connect the target Hard drive to another working computer.
- Now Format the Hard drive to NTFS. To format right click over Hard drive and select Quick Format, or if you have multiple partitions in the drive than, follow the instrction given in the video.
- Copy the entire Windows 8.1 Files from your Windows 8.1 disc or ISO.
Now read in detail:
First, you have got to, remove the Disk Drive, from the Target Computer, & place it to another, working computer, Friends, as you can see, in this video, that we have already, connected the target disk drive, to the working computer, now let’s power on, the working computer. Once the computer turn on, open file explorer, you can see the target disk drive is, listed here as a, secondary drive, the drive might be full with previous data, so, we got to clean the drive first, to do that, we will open, disk management, now right click over target Disk drive and select, delete volume, now click, yes, now again, right click over it select, new simple volume, now click next, make sure, Perform a quick format box is, checked and now push, next, now click finish, now wait, until the format is done, once the format is complete, you can see the, target disk drive, as empty, now you have to make the drive, active, you can either, right click over target disk drive and select, mark partition as active, or you can do the same, by using, command prompt, to open command prompt, go to search, and type CMD, now select, run as administrator, (Windows key + R, type CMD, hit Enter)
Part 2: Making the Hard Drive 'Active'
First, in order to make the partition 'Active'
Enter the following commands, (replace X with what applies to your hard drive):
diskpart
list disk
select disk X
list partition
select partition X
active
exit
Part 3: Now in the next step, we will copy the windows setup files from the ISO to the empty target disk drive, to do so right click over ISO and select extract to, now select the location of the target disk drive and , click OK, Wait until all files get copied. Now close the window, as you can see in the video, our drive is ready with windows setup files.
Note: Friends, you must install windows, in this same Directory, where you have copied, the windows Setup Files.
Caution : While running Windows Setup, Do not format the directory (where you have copied, the windows Setup Files), Instead, Only select this directory location to install the setup files.
Do not install setup anywhere else, (because the setup installs 'boot loader' (hidden) here and your computer will only boot, from the Hard Disk that has got boot loader installed )
Part 4: Making the Hard Drive 'Bootable'
Open 'Command Prompt', go to search, and type CMD, now select, run as administrator, (Windows key + R, type CMD, hit Enter)
Once the command prompt loads up, type , the command given below....
X:\boot\bootsect.exe /nt60 X:
(replace X with what applies to your hard drive)
Exit and shutdown.
Note: If you’re installing Windows 10 64-bit, you may get some Error Message while trying to run the last command (X:\boot\bootsect.exe /nt60 X:), Just Ignore that.
Step 2:
Part 1: Booting and installing Windows
Friends, now place the Hard Drive back to the target Computer. Turn on the computer and press F11 to open Boot Manager and select target Hard Drive. If you follow the steps correctly, you should see the blue Windows logo and setup will also load pretty fast, too. Install Windows as usual, in this same Directory, where you have copied, the windows Setup Files.
Part 2: Final steps/housecleaning
Friends, you can edit the boot menu, if your computer doesn't loads to windows, instead you see a 'Choice Menu'
In Windows 8.1, Windows10
Click the Windows key + R. to open Run
Now, Type msconfig, and hit Enter.
Click on the Boot tab at the top.
Click 'Windows Setup (\windows)', and hit Delete.
Click OK.
Click 'Exit without restart'.
And lastly, you can delete the ‘Sources’ folder and “Windows.old” (if it exists) in the C: Drive (this will free up 2-4gb).
