Friends once upon a time there was a rich merchant. He used to live in a grand mansion. He had many servants. One day he brought a bag full of precious pearls. He kept it in a safe and secure place. But the next morning when he woke up he found that the bag was stolen. The merchant went to the Royal Court’s and asked the Birbal, “Sir I have seven servants in my house. I think one of my servants has stolen the bag of precious pearls. I request you to please help me find out the thief.”
Birbal agreed to visit the rich man’s house and help him to catch the thief. He summoned all the seven servants in a room. Birbal gave a stick to each one of them and said, “These are magical sticks. I want you to keep them with you and return me back by tomorrow. All the sticks are equal in length but the person who has stolen the bag his stick will grow 1 inch longer by tomorrow. And this is how we will find the thief.”
The servant who stole the bag thought if he cut the stick by 1 inch short he won’t get caught. So he cut the stick by 1 inch short. Next day Birbal collected all the sticks from the servants. He found that there is one stick that is short by 1 inch. He told the rich man that the servant whose a stick is short by 1 inch has stolen his bag. The servant confessed that he stole the bag and he returned the bag.
