Once upon a time there was an illiterate person lived in a village. He could not read and write but he often saw people reading books and newspapers wearing spectacles. So he thought if he gets a pair of spectacles for himself he might also be able to read and write.
Next day the villager went to the nearest town. He entered into a spectacles shop. He asked the shopkeeper to show him some spectacles. The shopkeeper put some new spectacles in front of the villager. The villager took one of the suspects and put them on. Now he took a book and tried to read it. But he could not read the book.
The villager tried the next spectacle. But he could not read the book with this either. The villager could not understand what is the matter, why is unable to read the book. The villager tried one spectacles after another but he could not read the book everytime.
The shopkeeper looked at the villager with doubt. The villager said all these spectacles seems to be useless to him. He’s not able to read the book. The shopkeeper looked at the book and found that it was upside down. Now the shopkeeper understood everything. He asked the villager perhaps you don’t know how to read and write. Maybe you are illiterate.
The villager replied innocently yes I am illiterate and I want to buy these spectacles so that I can read and write. The shopkeeper couldn’t stop his laughing. Now he knew the real problem. He asked gently to the villager, “my dear friend, the spectacles can only help you to see things better and cannot make you to read and write. If you want to learn how to read and write you should probably join a school or college nearby.”
